I awoke this morning to read a dismal head line at MidCurent. The head line announced the cut of the editor of my favorite fly fishing magazine. The head line was, “American Angler Editor Loses Job in Morris Cuts.” I hate to see this happen to Phil Monahan, and especially just before Christmas. I have always enjoyed reading the magazine. It has been very helpful to me and pointed out a few places in the world I would like to visit with a fly rod. I also have always liked reading the editor’s page where Monahan usually described some fishing trip he had been on. And reading articles like the one he just done on Marshall Cutchin from MidCurent. Seeing that I have been a subscriber to American Angler for less time than Monahan has been the editor there (almost ten years), I don’t know what the magazine was like before he got there. I hope American Angler can keep up, and only time will give us the answer to that. Otherwise, I may be looking to see where Monahan will pop up at next.
